A proud moment for Indian shipbuilding - Congratulations to GSL and GRSE on building the fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV).

The Next-Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) are a series of eleven offshore patrol vessels planned to be built by Goa Shipyard (GSL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the Indian Navy.

07 Nos of NGOPV class Ships are being constructed by Ms/ Goa Shipyard Limited, GOA and 4 BY GRSE, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers

NGOPVs are modern warships that strengthen the Indian Navy’s combat readiness and protect national interests in the Indian Ocean.

They safeguard offshore assets and carry out interception, boarding, surveillance, and EEZ patrol missions.

The ships support mine warfare, anti-piracy, seaward defence, convoy, and counter-infiltration operations.

They can also handle out-of-area missions, evacuations, and support special forces and helicopter operations.

Additionally, NGOPVs assist in humanitarian relief, anti-poaching, anti-trafficking, medical support, and intelligence roles.

Avionics and Auxiliary Systems

The vessels are equipped with essential auxiliary systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, fire main, salvage, ballast, oily water separation, and other support systems to meet operational needs.

Propulsion

Propulsion is provided by two diesel engines with controllable pitch propellers, twin rudders, and bow thrusters, ensuring high efficiency and excellent manoeuvrability.

Weapon Systems

The ships feature a comprehensive electronic warfare suite, combat management system, chaff fire control system, radar, gyro, and GPS. Armament includes a rapid gun mount integrated with Lynx U2, two AK-630 gun mounts with Lynx U2 integration, an electro-optical infrared search and track system for surveillance and targeting, and a fire-control system operable from the bridge.

Communication and Navigation Systems
An advanced composite communication suite is integrated with a modern bridge system, Inmarsat terminals, and satellite communication equipment for secure and reliable connectivity.

NGOPV Control and Operations

Operational control is supported by an integrated platform management system, automatic power management, emergency diesel alternator, cold rooms and blast chillers, two sewage treatment plants, and four high-power water guns. Low-noise propellers, acoustic damping, efficient mufflers, and vibration-isolated machinery ensure quiet and smooth vessel operations.

Supporting the Mission with Code and Pixels Expertise

All equipment OEMs are required to provide IETM documentation to the shipyards. GSL and GRSE mandate IETM Level 4 compliance as per the Indian standard JSG 0852.
Code and Pixels’ IETM solution, Quantum TechDocs IETM software, is fully aligned with these shipyard requirements.
